No money for a tablet? These organizations offer them for free

There are many people who are struggling financially. This is especially true due to the way inflation has pushed the prices of everything up, without the pace of job salaries keeping up in the same fashion. Many people are having higher bills, without the bigger paychecks to get everything taken care of. Despite this, there are some who need access to things, like knowing how to get a free computer or tablet for struggling people.

A computer or tablet is essential for many people today. They can be used for a wide variety of things, including finding a job, paying bills, and educational purposes. Those who need a tablet and cannot afford to purchase one may be able to still obtain one for free. They will just need to be a little proactive in trying multiple routes to obtaining one.

Obtaining Free Tablets

One of the most important factors in being able to obtain a free computer or tablet is that you are flexible. If you are willing to take one that is used there is a good chance you will be able to find one. If you insist that it be a new item, then your quest to find one is going to be much more difficult. That doesn’t mean you won’t be able to obtain a new one for free, but it’s much easier to find a used one that you can get for free than it is a new one.

There are numerous places you can turn to in order to try and score a free tablet or computer. Most of these programs are going to require that you have a low income, because that is the segment of the population that needs the assistance and they are out to help. Consider the options below and then reach out to as many as you would like or that seem like a good fit, so that you can increase your chances of getting a free device.

Churches – There are churches around the country in just about every city. They are wonderful resources for people to be able to obtain help and the things they need, but can’t afford. Contact the churches in your area to see if anyone can help you with obtaining a free tablet or computer. They may have a thrift store that they run and they will check it to see if there are any on hand, or they may ask their congregation if anyone has any units to donate that can be given away to people. You don’t have to be a member of the church to reach out to them for help. They are generally happy to help anyone in their community that needs assistance.

Schools – Many schools provide their students with free laptops, tablets and various types of computers. As they are replaced with new models, they be willing to give away some of the older models that are no longer being used. Contact the schools in your area to see if they could provide you with a free unit or if they know of any programs they can refer you to that can.

Thrift Stores – With thousands of thrift stores around the country, there is a good chance that there are some near you. These are great places to find low cost items, and even try to score some free things. If you find a tablet at a thrift store you can try speaking with the management to see if they would be willing to give it to you for free. Some may be willing to if you have a low income and need the assistance.

Recycling Centers – Many counties in the country have recycling centers, and they often have an area where they take in electronics. It is never a good idea to simply put electronics in the trash can, because they contain things that should be recycled. Most people drop their discarded tablets and computers off at the recycling center and they are set aside. Many of them are in good working order, but have been replaced with newer models. Call your local recycling center to see if they could provide you with a free computer or tablet.

Facebook Marketplace – Most items in the Marketplace are listed for sale, but there are some things are listed for free. In addition to checking the Marketplace for free items you can also check curb alert sites and groups where people post free items. These groups allow people who are giving items away to post them so that someone who needs it can take advantage of it and pick it up for free.

Friends and Family – Check with your friends and family members to see if anyone has a tablet they are not using or that they are getting rid of. Often times, people have units that are sitting around collecting dust that they don’t want anymore. Most people simply don’t know what to do with them when they have upgraded, so they leave them sit in a box in the garage or closet. One of your family or friends may be happy to give you a free unit, but they won’t know you need one without putting it out there to let people know. Don’t shy about letting people know what you need, because most people are happy to help you locate it.

If you can’t find a free tablet or computer at this moment, don’t give up. Just because someone may not have one they are done with and giving away at this moment, doesn’t mean that a month or two down the line there won’t be one. Keep trying to get obtain one each week or month until you are successful. When people see that you are on the lookout for a free device they will keep that in mind and when someone is getting rid of one there is a good chance you will be the person they think of for it.
